Farmer Katie

When Katie and Matt met in 2015, she was amazed by Matt’s dedication to the family farm. Matt shared with her his dream of opening his version of the Masstown Market one day.

Matt was honest and said he was a farmer and that farming was his passion, but he recognized his farm’s endless potential.

Katie said, “No problem, I can help you build your dream!” So, she started taking small steps to move Matt closer to what we now know as Compton’s Farm Market.

Katie’s background is in sales and business management. She would say most of her experience comes from trial and error and just good old experiences. Katie’s father, Jack, was an entrepreneur who worked in sales and operated his own business for years. Katie likes to think that she is following in his footsteps.

Katie decided to attend college in 2017 and later graduated with a degree in Human Resource Management. However, her love of sales brought her back to where she is today, “Farmer Katie.”

When Katie arrived at the farm in 2020, the world was under the COVID-19 pandemic. The future was still being determined, but Katie was undeterred. She managed the retail division of Hy-Croft Farms/Compton’s vegetable stand, which would later become Compton’s Farm Market.

Katie and Matt worked tirelessly in 2020, saying, “If we can make it through this, we can do it through anything.” That is when they decided to jump in and build the new farm market store.

Katie wears many hats. She is the driving force behind everything inside the Farm Market Store: all product development, from preserves to baked goods, and the management of the market staff. She has also built a social media following and manages all social media platforms.

The new Farm Market store is a testament to Katie and Matt’s shared vision and dedication. They designed and built it together, with every detail reflecting their passion for keeping the Compton’s name relevant in today’s market. The store’s interior is a tribute to the family and long-term employees, with a picture mural thanking those who came before them. They both acknowledge the invaluable contribution of Matt’s family and the simultaneous creation of a brand-new business.

She hopes that one day, the Market Store will be passed down to the next generation.
