At Hy-Croft Farms, our roots run deep in the fertile soil of Prince Edward Island. Led by Matthew Compton, a fourth-generation farmer with a lifelong passion for agriculture, our farm is dedicated to producing the highest quality fruits, vegetables, and grains while fostering a direct connection with our consumers.
Matt Compton grew up on his family’s farm near Summerside, where he developed a profound love for farming from an early age. His journey has taken him from childhood dreams to becoming the proud owner/operator of the Compton family farm. Specializing in strawberries, sweet corn, mixed vegetables, pumpkins, wheat, and straw, Matthew combines traditional farming methods with modern techniques to ensure the best possible produce.
Our Commitment to Quality and Community
Matthew’s role encompasses every aspect of farm operations, from crop management and harvesting to direct consumer sales. He believes in the importance of transparency and honesty, inviting the public to experience farm life firsthand through activities like corn mazes, U-Pick Berry Patches, and our charming roadside stand. This hands-on approach provides fresh, locally grown food and educates visitors about their meals’ origins.
A Lifetime in Agriculture
With 35 years of experience in agriculture, Matthew brings extensive knowledge and dedication to Hy-Croft Farms. His education in Agricultural Mechanics from Olds College in Alberta and certifications as a red seal mechanic and heavy equipment technician ensure that our farm operates efficiently and sustainably.
Community Engagement
Beyond the fields, Matthew is an active community member, supporting local events and fundraisers, and serving on the board of the PEI Federation of Agriculture. Hy-Croft Farms proudly participates in PEI Open Farm Day, welcoming visitors to explore and learn about our farming practices.
